Integrated Products
Integrated Products or form combinations is a different way of solving a particular application issue. Integrated products are some combination of form and either a label, card, or magnet. The additional add-on feature is integrated into the form itself so when the form is printed, it also prints the additional item. The idea is that instead of printing the form, then going back and printing a label, for instance, then having to put those two together for the rest of their process, why not print both at the same time so that they are together at the beginning and stay that way as long as needed. While the application varieties are endless, there are two classic examples of integrated products being used every day: membership letters and shipping forms. Membership letters are an easy way to utilize the form/card combination. When a person signs up for membership, like at a museum or zoo, they will receive a letter thanking them for joining. Integrated in that letter will be their membership card. They will simple remove the card from the letter and put it in their pocket. One laser printed item to serve two purposes. Shipping forms can be numerous and all always a hassle to keep together. Common uses have a packing list, pull list, shipping label, return label and instructions, etc. With integrated label, this can all be printed in one pass. The packing list would have the shipping label on it to be peeled off by your warehouse person to attach to the box. The packing slip then is placed in the box for shipping, reducing the possibility of the items going to the wrong place because the right label wasn’t put with the right packing slip. In addition, the return label can also be included on the packing slip. This way, if the customer needs to return the item, they have the instruction and the label at hand to just peel off and put on the box. Integrated products are a simple way to combine two or more processes into one. Look at your current operation and see if there are potential uses for an integrated product. How much in time, effort, and mistakes will it save you to have integrated products instead of separate products and processes?
