Continuous Forms

The continuous form is a unique type of form that was very popular prior to the advent and mass distribution of the laser printer. A continuous form has pinfeeds which allow it to be used on a dot matrix printer. Whether it is a single part or multi-part form, a continuous form has the advantage of allowing the dot matrix printer to imprint the entire form at the same time. Different than a laser printer, a dot matrix printer uses contacts to imprint the form with the ink, allowing for the imprint to go through carbonless paper to each of the plies.

Although not as popular as they once were, continuous forms continued to be used for applications that require multiple copies. Continuous forms can be consecutively numbered, perforated, hole punched, etc.

Some examples of uses for continuous forms are:

  • Bills of Lading
  • Purchase Orders
  • Delivery Tickets
  • Work Orders
  • Packing Lists
  • Mailers
  • Etc
